Originally built as a mill house in 1825 on the banks of the Isis River, Kings Bridge Bar & Restaurant has enjoyed a colourful history as one of the oldest buildings in Launceston. Its Georgian cobblestone walls and rustic interior complete with open fireplace takes you back to a bygone era. The building stands as testimony to its founder Andrew Gatenby, an early pioneer of Van Diemen’s Land. Arriving with his young family in 1823, they settled on a parcel of land on the Isis River, then known as Penny Royal Creek.
